Who We Are

Michael Levine is a nationally recognized educator of analytical thinking and writing skills. Since 1997, he has served as Executive Director of Lawrite Consulting. Lawrite specializes in training attorneys, law students, and professionals in legal and practical writing, project management, client-service skills, and essay exam techniques.

Michael currently serves as the Associate Director in the Office of Academic Excellence at American University’s Washington College of Law. There, he supports the development of academic skills and bar preparation programming, including workshops, labs, individual coaching, and teaching credit-bearing coursework.

Prior to joining the Washington College of Law, Michael also served as an award-winning professor on the faculty of The George Washington University Law School, where he primarily taught Legal Writing to first-year students. He is a former Assistant Director of GW’s Legal Research and Writing Program, and also taught Scholarly Writing to journal members and Thesis Writing to LLM candidates. Michael served as Faculty Advisor to GW’s Inns of Court Program and was a frequent presenter to professional and law school organizations.

An experienced attorney, Michael practiced commercial litigation as a partner at Bromley, Greene & Walsh in Washington, DC. He is a certified court-appointed mediator, and a member of the Legal Writing Institute and the Association of American Law Schools. Michael graduated from The Catholic University of America, where he was Managing Editor of the Law Review.

Known for his enthusiastic embrace of practical skills growth, Michael promotes self-directed, process-oriented learning through experiential exercises and formative assessment techniques. This training builds the self-directed problem-solving skills that serve clients, and the profession, with excellence, integrity and respect.
